Final 5 years of endowment told it wouldn't make it. Angry! Was sold
to us as payment for children's higher education/wedding. No action
taken ... yet. 4 years to go ... What do I do?

I have a policy with Woolwich Life that has a predicted 25% shorfall.
At time of sale I was led to believe that the policy would cover but
that the bonus (which sounded generous) wasn't. In The Sunday Times
2nd July a solicitor Joseph Aaron is looking to put a case together
and is looking for volunteers to join forces as he feels that there
are legal grounds. The contact number quoted in the article is 020 8518
0333. A call can't hurt but beware the coffin chasers!
David writes
Risks not explained. Advised to sell existing policy. Advised that
new policy would mature and provide surplus to pay off mortgage early.
Told that because this was pre financial services Act, I have no comeback
The cut-in date for endowment complaints is through the system is 29
April 1988. Is the company not prepared to review your complaint, especially
as regards the advice to sell the existing policy and take out a new one?
- this is usually a no-no (churning, to get commission for the salesman).
Legal action may still be possible, though.
